Rest is Resistance Book Study
Beginning February 26th
Running for 4 weeks.
Rest is Resistance Book Study
We will gather for four Sundays in February + March to support each other in rest as we read Tricia Hersey’s work Rest is Resistance.
February 26th, March 5th, 12th, 19th
3-4:30 pm PST | 5-6:30 pm CST | 6-7:30 pm EST
If you sign up, please take a moment to find or purchase your copy of Tricia Hersey’s book if you haven’t already: https://thenapministry.com/
We are designing this book study with rest at the center. We ourselves are slow readers. We hold the intention to make this a low-obligation book study space. Regardless of how much you have read, you will be supported to engage in a conversation and practice of rest in support of Black liberation, knowing that this is the way all people become free.
This is a free event as we want to amplify the work of Tricia Hersey.
The capitalist systems we live in are designed to value constant productivity. Sleep deprivation and hustle culture have been normalized.
As a result, rest often gets put on the backburner.
Maybe you can relate. Sound familiar?
You are awake to the urgent needs of our time.
The demands of making a difference and making an income have you go-go-going non-stop.
You are used to saying “yes” to what you “should” do rather than what you want to do.
Even when you do have time to rest, you don’t rest.
You aren’t even sure what activities bring rest and joy.
And as a result…
You feel guilty even carving out time for rest.
You are burnt out and exhausted.
You notice a sense of urgency with everything you do.
You feel like you are in constant motion.
You feel awkward and uncomfortable when you do have time to rest.
Rest comes as a complete crash only once your body has said enough.
What if we told you that rest has the power to transform our movement work? We believe the world we seek is inherently found in the
rest and pleasure we invite into our lives.
When you join us for the
Rest is Radical Offerings…
You’ll find a new way of relating to rest seeing it as an important part of the change-making work you are up to.
You’ll get clear on what brings you joy with the support of a community of like-minded folks.
You’ll experience less “self-sabotage” and more self-appreciation.
You’ll learn tools that support you in making rest a joy-filled, life-vitalizing experience.
You’ll get real-time practice in implementing rest regularly into your life.
You’ll learn coaching principles that’ll support you in inviting rest into your life regularly.
